Navigation, lighting, etc equip - representing 5/6 well respected international companies with Agency Agreements in place. A high level of technical understanding is not required, but rather the ability to understand the products & their performance (from the brochures/tech sheets).
Tenders (approx. 80% 0f turnover but can vary) & business opportunities (5%) are sought & developed, while existing clients (15%) might call in for quotes. Once an order is confirmed it is sent through to the manufacturer, with (on occasion) delivery directly to the client, normally within 2 weeks (air) & 2 months (sea). The present owner does not really partake in new business development which is an opportunity especially for non-tender business (some R2m possible). Calls do come in w.r.t. problems with the product & that is immediately fed through to the manufacturer for input or addressing (including technicians being flown out to SA).
